High Quality Testing of your information technology systems is the optimal way of reducing your project costs and enhancing system lifetime quality. 40% of all IT money is spent in the area of testing, hence making it the prime candidate for cost reduction. Such a large budget reflects poor life cycle management, weak architectures and poorly thought out methodologies, requiring corrective action during the last phases when delivery should have got it right in the first place. Lexington's ideal is to establish the optimum strategy at the start but of course we will recover projects and programmes that are already struggling. Our strategies use up-to-date testing methods and ensure that the deliverable is testable in an efficient way, which is where dramatic cost reductions can be made. Our testing experience includes: real-time engineering applications in defence, communications and manufacturing; financial applications in banking, share trading, dealing rooms, eCommerce; web based applications in retail, finance and media; pharmaceutical applications in strictly regulated environments; government applications in the criminal justice area, and other government departments. We take on both functional and non-functional testing. In both cases Lexington provides expertise and experience in all of the usual stages of testing: for the former this would range from unit testing to dress rehearsal, and for the latter we cover all 20 or so features of testing including performance, resilience, security and regulatory requirements. We also deploy frameworks for business process, facilities and organisational testing. Testing does not need to be seen as onerous or tedious. It needs
to be controlled and managed by people who have a passion to deliver high
quality products. Some of Lexington's strengths are: · Estimating and Test Planning - Our experience allows us to rapidly put together realistic test plans backed up by sound estimating principles. · Test Management - The ability to provide the necessary direction and implement the control mechanisms to provide focused and visible delivery. · Test Strategy - A good test strategy ensures that quality is addressed through all stages of the life cycle; a successful strategy is one that is jointly developed and owned by all parties. Our teams have the breadth of knowledge and necessary experience to address all stages of the lifecycle and to win respect and buy in from all parties. · Audit and Recovery - We are often called in to rescue projects and programmes at the test stage. Our ability to rapidly put in place the test management controls and frameworks allows us to quickly assess the quality of the product and readiness for testing, and manage testing through to successful delivery. · Test tools implementation - We have experience with most of the test tool products on the market. More importantly, we have the ability to implement solutions using standard development tools which will often deliver massive benefits without the need for expensive tools and skills. · Test management controls - We have a well proven set of controls and standard Microsoft Office templates that allow us to rapidly put together test packs and management controls. · Documentation - We drive out the necessary and sufficient level of documentation to support successful projects and programmes. A classic failure of projects is in the production of inappropriate documentation. · Dynamic delivery - Our consultants work in a dynamic environment that opens up the communications and provides visibility within and across the project or programme. We have successfully run complex integration testing programmes and rapid web-site implementations where communication is vital. Some of our programmes have used the war room approach, bear pits, and nerve centres. |
